FITbear classes are now open to Barnard students, faculty, and staff.
You must be registered in IMLeagues to participate. You can sign up for classes up to 7 days in advance. We only hold your spot until the start time of class. If you do not arrive by the start time, we reserve the right to give your spot to another student.
To join FITbear you must create an account through Barnard College’s IMLeagues portal.
Option 1: Head to the website
- Go to the website www.imleagues.com/BarnardPhysEd/Registration
- You should immediately be redirected to the Barnard Portal.
- Use your Barnard credentials to log in. Fill out any extra information and…
- Your account is created!
- When you get to BFC, the Fitness Center Attendant will sign you in via your name. Please bring your Barnard ID to confirm your identity.
Option 2: Download the app
- Download the app “Barnard Phys Ed” onto your iPhone or Android.
- Click “Login Via Portal” (If you do not see this you may have to close the app and reopen it).
- Use your Barnard credentials to log in. Fill out any extra information and…
- Your account is created!

Classes are held in Studio 2, Barnard Hall. N95, KN95, KF94, or multi-layered surgical masks are required to be worn at all times.

Barre – A barre-less ballet inspired workout to tone legs, arms, core. Improves posture and balance.
Cardio KickBox – Targeted intervals of cardio kick box, strength and core for the whole body.
Sculpt – Muscle toning for the whole body using weights, bands and bars.
Yoga – Breathe, stretch and strengthen with vinyasa flow yoga.
Athletic shoes required for all classes except Yoga, Core, and Barre.

American Red Cross Adult CPR/AED/First Aid

The training is a 2-part blended learning course.
Once completed, you will have an American Red Cross certificate valid for 2 years.

You must complete 2 parts in the following order:
1. Online learning course - takes about 2 hours to complete.
2. Attend the following skills session in Studio 2 - takes about 1.5 hours:
Adult CPR includes breathing and heart emergencies.
First Aid includes muscle, bone and soft tissue injuries.

Cost: 50 minutes session $45
Hours available: vary by day
Appointments must be scheduled in advance and in person in the Physical Education Office, 200 Barnard Annex. Full payment is required when the appointment is made. Cash or check only.

FITbear Terms
I agree and consent to the following:

I am voluntarily participating in the Fitbear fitness program (the “Program”) conducted at Barnard College. I recognize that the Program requires physical exertion that may be strenuous at times and may cause physical injury and I am fully aware of the risks and hazards involved. I know that any form of physical activity has inherent risk for illness or injury, ranging from minor debilitating injuries to actual life-threatening events.

I agree to assume full responsibility for any risks, injuries or damage known or unknown which I might incur as a result of participating in the Program. I am responsible for understanding my own physical limitations and operating within them at all times.

I know I should not enter into any form of physical activity unless I am medically able. I do represent and warrant that, to the best of my knowledge, I do not have any physical limitation that would put me at risk while participating in the Program.

I further understand and agree to assume responsibility for all risk of theft, loss or damage of personal property which occurs at anytime arising out of my participation in the activity.

To the extent permitted by law, and in consideration for being allowed to participate in the Program, I hereby save, hold harmless, discharge and release Barnard College, its trustees, officers, agents, employees and representatives from any and all liability, claims, causes of actions, damages or demands of any kind and nature whatsoever that may arise from or in connection with my participation in any activities related to the Program, whether caused by the negligence or carelessness of Barnard College, its representatives or otherwise.

It is my express intent that this Informed Consent and Liability Waiver shall forever bind my spouse, the members of my family and my estate, heirs, administrators, personal representatives and assigns. I further agree to save and hold harmless, indemnify and defend, and release Barnard College, its trustees, officers, agents, employees and representatives from any claim by the aforementioned parties arising out of my participation in the Program.

By entering a Barnard Physical Education class or event, I consent to be photographed or otherwise recorded by the College or its designee for news, promotional purposes, or other College uses, including but not limited to publication of such recordings on its website and social media.

Physical activity, including in a virtual setting, carries the inherent risks described above. It is the sole responsibility of the student to ensure their materials, space, and attire are safe for the activities included in the Fitbear classes. The space should be free from obstacles both on and off the ground.

I acknowledge that there is an inherent risk of injury when participating in fitness activities offered remotely.
