Melanie Rodriguez, Associate in Physical Education, joined the Barnard faculty in 2020. Her areas of expertise include mind/body health and wellness, Yoga, and Strength Training. She is a registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500) and has amassed 1000+ teaching and training hours. Her initial training was with Amy Jean Pastore in the iFlow Yoga program based in New Jersey and was rooted in Vinyasa style. Her advanced training was with Hudson Yoga Project based out of Hoboken, NJ and was rooted in Vinyasa style with an Iyengar influence. She holds certifications as a Group Fitness Instructor with the American Council on Exercise and is a Crossfit Level 1 Trainer. Additionally, she is CPR/AED and Standard First Aid certified with the American Red Cross and has embarked on many other certifications, trainings, and workshops within Yoga, mindfulness, meditation, and fitness. She has been an active part of the fitness and wellness offerings on Barnard's campus and Columbia's campus and serves as the Fitness Center Director.
